A.J. FOSIK is rad...and that's not all I have to say about that.
Do you ever have those moments when you feel like the stars have aligned, the gods are smiling and all is good in the world? Well I experienced that exact described moment when I saw A.J. Fosik's work at the Andenken Tenants Show: THE WORLD INVITATIONAL at, well obviously, Andenken.
It intrigued and provoked me in a way I can't describe. His handmade and beautifully designed wood animal sculptures and paintings, combined with puzzle-like symbols pushes the viewer to look and think deeper. "Each Morning Takes Figuring Out How to Live All Over Again", (pictured above), combines recognizeable symbols from culture while maintaining a curiosity. When seeing this up close, I turned my head every which way to read the "crossword puzzle" like words. In order to read it you have to think a different way, approach your thought processes differently.
A.J.'s back at Andenken, curating this month's exhibition, BRAIN BASHERS. It opened June 29th and goes until August 24th. Artists included in the show are as follows:
Andrew Jeffrey Wight Ben Woodward Damian Weinkrantz Elizabeth Huey Keith Jones Joe Buzzell Jordin Isip Matt Leines Will Buzzell Alex Lukas
This being my first post, I promise to post shows long before their opening, hence the timing of this post. My apologies. However if you're appreciative of art, especially Denver's young and edgy artists, I highly recommend checking out this show before it's closing. Yours Truly, Xoxo. Liz
