Rocky Mountain Folks Festival

I went out to the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival in Lyons, CO last weekend for the first time. It was a blissful 3-day weekend I wished had gone on much longer. The highlight for me was Gillian Welch and David Rawlings who are an absolutely amazing duo. Headlining the first night under Gillian's name then playing another set on day two under David's they absolutely blew me away and I wished they had another name to go under on day three. Gillian Welch's voice and lyrics are beautiful and David Rawling's guitar work is almost godlike, its the sort of show that makes me go home and stare at my guitar not sure whether I should be inspired or give up guitar forever because I don't think I could ever be that good. If you ever have the chance to see them live you should not pass it up.

The winner of the songwriters contest this year was a woman named Sara Sample out of Larimie, WY and she is definitely worth checking out. She has an Angelic voice and beautiful songs that can send chills down your spine.
