Shellhouse

The brainchild of NYU grad student, Carolina Pino, Shellhouse is a project to provide the homeless with effective shelter and an address, as defined by a radio transmitter.

Pino has posted instructions for building the shellhouse online at instructables.com, so that DIY enthusiasts, social activists, and damn near anyone can go ahead and create one (total cost: $35) to donate to St. Francis of Assisi Church in Manhattan, NY, where the shellhouses will be distributed to the homeless.
